Kid of the ’80s can’t understand sister’s intense parenting style
Dear Carolyn: My sister is going down a rabbit hole about her 4-year-old’s health. He has some eczema issues and she has started banning all sorts of food and products with certain chemicals in an attempt to solve the problem.
I’m a child of the ’80s, where we ate and played with anything and everything, so it’s hard for me to understand this level of anxiety. I obviously want to validate her feelings and be supportive. Are there any generic statements I can make, even though I don’t fully understand or even agree with her?
