Good morning. It’s Tuesday, Aug. 25, and we are grateful that columnist Monica Hesse watched Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s new reality show so we don’t have to. Let’s catch up.

	President Donald Trump announced even more tariffs on Canadian goods.

• The latest: Trump said yesterday that he would impose higher tariffs on additional products starting Jan. 1. The announcement followed the collapse of trade talks at the weekend.

• Canada is defiant: Prime Minister Mark Carney said his government will match U.S. tariffs “dollar for dollar.” He has urged other world leaders to join him in standing up to Trump.

• As the midterms near: Trump’s trade war could backfire on Republicans.

The Supreme Court eased the path for Trump’s limits on mail-in balloting.

• How? Justices overturned a lower court’s block of the president’s order barring USPS from sending mail-in ballots to voters not on lists of citizens created by federal agencies.

• The legal fight is not over: The case now returns to the lower courts. But, if the order ultimately goes forward, it is likely to inject fresh uncertainty into the high-stakes midterms.

	Kennedy Center revenue plunged after Trump’s name was added to the building.

• In December: The Trump-led board of trustees voted to rename the center after him. Publicly, the center’s leaders have portrayed Trump’s takeover as a financial rescue.

• However: Ticket sales and fundraising collapsed in the months following the name change, according to confidential budget and meeting documents obtained by The Post.

The next big test of Trump’s endorsement power takes place today in South Carolina.

• What’s happening? Republicans are voting in a runoff to elect a Senate nominee after the death of Lindsey Graham. Trump is backing Sen. Darline Graham, the late senator’s sister.

• Trump’s clout is on the line: His reputation as Republican kingmaker is under threat after a string of primary setbacks.

• In other election news: Democratic candidates are being inspired and tripped up by this not-so-secret document.

A fast-moving wildfire is burning near Reno, Nevada.

• The latest: The Hawk Fire has forced thousands of residents to evacuate and injured at least seven people. The blaze was caused by human activity, officials said.

• This week: A heat dome will expand from Texas to California, increasing the risk of wildfires. Around 98 million people nationwide may face extreme temperatures.
