Why? To recognize her efforts to promote international law,the Norwegian Nobel Committee said. Pillay, from South Africa, is a former United Nations human rights chief.
President Donald Trump’s wait goes on: A year ago, Trump had his eyes set on the prize. His hopes of getting it now appear to be fading, but some Norwegians still fear his wrath.
The Fort Hood shooter’s execution will be live-streamed, the Pentagon said.
In 2009: Nidal Malik Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, opened fire on dozens of people at a military base in Texas. He was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others.

In Michigan: Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers swung hard and fast at each other, even exchanging words about each other’s mothers.
In Georgia: Sen. Jon Ossoff (D) attacked Rep. Mike Collins (R) over his alleged ties to white nationalists, accusing Collins of hiring “half the Third Reich.”
In Maine: Sen. Susan Collins (R) and Troy Jackson (D) sparred over the Iran war and inflation. Jackson has a slim lead in their race, according to a new poll.
An ICE officer shot and wounded a man on a crowded New York street.
What happened? The officer fired seven rounds into a car, city officials said, wounding the man while a 5-year-old boy was sat in the back seat. The child was apparently unharmed.
According to DHS: The officer was carrying out a “targeted enforcement operation.” New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the injured man was taken away in an unmarked vehicle.
Hurricane Isaias is set to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle today.
